Grassfield's Moore Twins Commit to George Mason
Tuesday evening, a pair of Virginia’s top seniors announced their collegiate wrestling plans. Grassfield’s Moore twins, Nate and Nick, announced that they will continue their wrestling careers at George Mason University.
Both wrestlers are two-time Virginia state placewinners for the defending 6A state champions. Nick was third at 157 lbs last season and Nate was a state runner-up at 165. In 2024, Nick was fifth at 132 and Nate was fourth at 138.
Nate is currently ranked #13 overall in the Class of 2026 and Nick is #27. In the preseason All-Class Rankings, Nate was ranked first in the state at 175 lbs. Nick came in at #5 at 165 lbs.
Because of a strong showing at the Super 32, Nate earned a national ranking (#24 by MatScouts) for the first time in his career. He also is ranked #205 in the nation among the Class of 2026.
During the 2024-25 regular season, Nate was a champion at the Joe Verciglio Memorial and Nick was second. Each placed at Pennsylvania’s MyHouse Trojan Wars tournament - Nick was fifth and Nate was sixth.
With the twins’ commitment, George Mason now has verbals from five Virginia seniors. The Moore’s will join Kross Cassidy (Fairfax), Drew Roggie (St. Christopher’s), and Rudy Wagner (Cox) in GMU’s incoming class.
Grassfield now has three seniors who have committed to wrestle at the next level. State champion heavyweight Christopher Funches committed to Ferrum in October.
