Welcome to the VaWrestle’s top 75 wrestlers from the Class of 2025! I’ve mentioned it before, but it bears repeating again. This is an excellent class - one that has been as good or better than any group of seniors from Virginia in the last 20 years.

On MatScouts final Class of 2025 Big Board, there were five Virginia natives within the top 100 overall. The last time that number was hit was in 2009. Of the top 250, 14 are from Virginia.

Initially, I planned to stop at the top 50, but there was just too much talent to exclude at 50. Even so, some high-quality seniors didn’t make the cut at 75.

The criteria for this list include a whole variety of factors. For the top ten to 15, I’m taking into consideration national rankings, placements at national tournaments, along with state titles/placement and results. After that top 15 or 20, it’s more results-based, but also a projection of future success. There are some examples of a wrestler being ranked lower despite a head-to-head win. For the most part, I’m trying to capture the entire body of work.

As far as results and placements go, they are heavily weighted towards the back half of the high school career. Sorry, middle school state tournament results aren’t as relevant at this point.

There is a trio of wrestlers that would have made the cut here (easily); however, they haven’t wrestled in Virginia in quite some time. Robert Kucharczk (Florida) and Cadell Lee (Japan) have spent the past few years outside of Virginia but have great credentials. Also, Billy Dekraker is a post-grad student at Blair Academy in New Jersey but was listed in MatScouts Big Board.

Here’s the list, please let me know if I’ve missed a college commitment or if the one I’ve listed has changed.
